Mark Josefski, MD

In addition to directing our Residency program and seeing patients as a family physician, Dr. Josefski is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM) and an Instructor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has worked with the residency program and the Institute since 1989. He serves on the Board of Directors of The Kingston Hospital and its Foundation. Dr. Josefski is currently the Vice-Speaker of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians and has been active in statewide education for the last two decades.
With a particular interest in maternity care and sports medicine, he serves as an ALSO faculty advisor and sideline physician for the Kingston School system. He still actively plays baseball, travelling to national competitions in his spare time.


Bridget Foy, DO

After spending time in private practice, Dr. Foy has returned to academic medicine with the Institute for Family Health. She holds faculty status with NYCOM, and is Clinical Director for the BS/DO seven-year program at SUNY New Paltz. She practices and teaches Osteopathic Manipulation and also sees patients at the Family Health Center of New Paltz.
Dr. Foy is also a Hudson Valley native, born in Poughkeepsie NY. She completed her undergraduate education at Marist College, also in Poughkeepsie NY, and remains active in alumni affairs.


Megan McMullan, MD

Dr. McMullan has a strong interest in Women's health and maternal/child health. She is a certified Balint Group Leader and ALSO trainer. She has been named an outstanding physician in the Hudson Valley in the realm of diabetes care by USA Today. She is the current site leader for the Mid-Hudson FPR in the FMEC collaborative IMPLICIT project aimed at decreasing low birth weight and preterm delivery. Her clinical interests also lie in outpatient medicine, and she is the faculty-resident liaison at the Kingston Family Practice site, where she maintains an active patient panel. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM) and an Instructor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine


Zubair Syed, MD

Dr. Syed is closely involved in the hospital aspect of the residency education. He stayed on as faculty after graduating from the Mid-Hudson Residency in 2005, and was the recipient of the Harri Janssen, MD Memorial Award (for excellence and commitment to OB-Gyn).He is a graduate of the 2010 Class of NIPDD ( The National Institute for Program Director Development). Dr. Syed is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM) and an Instructor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

John Anderson, MD

Dr. Anderson was Program Director of our Residency Program from 2003 to 2007.He is currently an adjunct clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM). His interests include Geriatrics community health and gardening. He also precepts residents at the FMC.


Marek Balutowski, MD

Dr. Balutowski has been associated with the Institute and the Residency Program since 2003. He is currently the Medical Director of the Family Health Center of New Paltz .
Dr. Balutowski is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of
Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM). He is an avid skier in his spare time.


Jodi Friedman, MD

Dr. Friedman has a strong interest in geriatrics. She sees patients at the New Paltz Health Center and is actively involved in education and home visits with the residents. She also is the coordinator of our upstate Diabetes initiative which has resulted in our NCQA Level 3 certification. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM).


William J. Gessner, MD

Dr. Gessner served many years as an attending physician with the Residency and as its Program Director for over a decade. He and Dr. Weiss were instrumental in creating the Access Program at the Kingston site. This practice is focused on longitudinal care of adult patients with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. .This focused practice complements his interest in geriatrics. He serves as medical director at a rural long term care facility and consultant medical director at a critical access hospital; both facilities part of the Alliance Hospitals with which the Residency is affiliated.
An avid skier, he is Medical Director of the Belleayre Ski Center and an active member of the National Ski Patrol for over thirty years. As well he is currently Medical Director for the Hurley and West Hurley Fire Departments, has depth of experience in sports medicine, and enjoys amateur radio, sailing and hiking.


Maya Hambright, MD

In 2000 Dr. Hambright moved to the Hudson Valley from her hometown of Washington D.C. In 2003 she completed her Family Practice residency with the Institute and stayed on as faculty. She has worked in both the Kingston and Ellenville offices and as a resident preceptor. She currently is the Medical Director of the Pine Grove site, where the Institute runs a medical clinic in an outpatient mental health day-program. Dr. Hambright and her colleagues in Ellenville are launching a teen health clinic in Ellenville in spring 2010. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM).
Dr. Hambright, her husband, and their 2 daughters live in Woodstock. She is an avid tennis player.


Raymond Harvey, MD

Dr Harvey is an attending at the Kingston Office, practicing the full range of family medicine, including obstetrics. He also has a strong interest in addiction medicine, and is currently running an outpatient opioid dependence program at the Kingston site.
He is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, NYCOM

Lee Isabell, DO

Dr. Isabell is certified in internal medicine as well as in osteopathic family practice. He sees patients at the Hyde Park Family Center and practices and teaches osteopathic manipulation. He is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM)


Robert Roth, MD

Dr. Roth is the Medical Director at our FMC site, the Family Health Center of Kingston. He is also the medical advisor/school physician to the Kingston High School. He is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College ofOsteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM) His interests include primary care research, health screening, immunizations and school health.


Melissa Schiskie, DO

Dr. Schiskie began her work with the Institute during her 3rd year of medical school, as her first clinical experience was a family medicine rotation at the Institute. After completing the rest of her training, which included a Chief Resident appointment, she returned to the Institute as a faculty member in 2005. She is currently an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of
Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM), and also serves as a member of the NYCOMEC Research Committee. She also works on a committee within the organization to improve the implementation of the electronic medical record for clinical providers.
She is married with 2 children. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the Hudson Valley.


Aimee Smith, DO

Dr. Smith joined the Residency Program as an attending in 2009. She was the recipient of the 2009 STFM Resident Teacher award and the Harri Janssen, MD Memorial Award (for excellence and commitment to OB-Gyn). Dr. Smith is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM).
Dr.Smith loves to bake and is an avid skier and photographer


Geniene Wilson, MD

Dr Wilson is currently conducting research in the field of health disparities. She directs and coordinates research activities at the residency. She is also training to be an HIV specialist. Her interests include Global health, public health and health care for refugees and asylum seekers.


Walter Woodley, MD

Dr. Woodley has more than 20 years of experience in practice management, community outreach, and medical resident education. Dr. Woodley is keenly interested in youth health and development. He is Medical Director of the Kingston City Schools Consolidated and is a mentor for pre-med students at the State University of New York in New Paltz. Dr. Woodley is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, (NYCOM).


Philip Weiss,MD

Dr. Weiss is interested in the Developmentally Disabled adult population and with his long time associate, Dr Gessner, provides care in the Access Program at the Kingston Office. He is a Medical Director at a nursing home to complement his interest in Geriatrics. He was formerly the medical director at the Institute's Woodstock, NY center which has been consolidated into other Ulster county offices. He has special expertise in the management of sexually transmitted diseases, diabetes and medical risk management.




Behavioral Health


Amy Begel, LCSW, LMFT
Amy is a family therapist who joined the Mid-Hudson Family Practice Residency in 2009 as Behavioral Science Coordinator. She specializes in family systems medicine and has over 25 years of experience teaching physicians in primary care and other subspecialties. She currently is on the faculty of Beth Israel's Integrative Medicine Program and teaches in Internal Medicine and the Cardiology Fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. She is also on the faculty of The Minuchin Center, where she conducts workshops and seminars in family therapy, both nationally and internationally.

Dominique Delma, MD

Dr Delma is Board Certified in OB/GYN. She is Medical Director of the Specialty Care Center and Chair of the Dept of OB-Gyn at the Kingston Hospital. Dr. Delma had a private OB-Gyn practice in Kingston for over 10 years before joining the Institute in 2010.She loves to travel and has been actively involved in volunteer work in Haiti for the last 11 years.

Stanley Swaby, DO

Alexander Frenkel, MD, DO, FAAP

Mercedes Lat, MD ,FAAP

Dr. Lat had a private pediatrics practice in Kingston for over 20 years before joining the Medical Center of Kingston in 2000. Earlier in her career she was chief of pediatrics at Kingston Hospital. Residents' rotate with her during their outpatient pediatrics rotations.


Casey B. Rosen-Carole, MD, MPH, FAAP

Dr. Rosen-Carole has a strong interest in Public Health/Community Medicine initiatives and advocacy. She is a practicing Pediatrician and is also the Medical Director of Pediatrics at Kingston Pediatric Care Center. She speaks Spanish and French.


Martha L. Smith, MD, FAAP

Dr. Smith has worked at the Pediatric Care Center since 1999. She is currently the Family Practice Residency Program Core Coordinator for Pediatric Education and the Vice-Chairman in the Department of Pediatrics at The Kingston Hospital. She is most interested in Growth and Development in infants and children. Her hobbies include quilting

Patricia Farragher, DPM

Dr. Farragher began working for the Institute in 1999.Dr. Farragher completed medical school in 1994 and began her post-doctorate training in 2 consecutive residencies, completing her training as Chief Resident of the Podiatric Surgical program in 1997.
Dr. Farragher is currently credentialed and Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, and an Adjunct Clinical Professor of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Farragher continues to work to improve and expand the quality of foot care in the local community,with special interests with the diabetic population.

Lawrence Jacowitz, DP

Dr. Jacowitz was in private practice for over 24 years before joining the Institute for Family Health, where he is the Director of Podiatory. He is the President of the Mid Hudson Division New York State Podiatric Medical Association and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM).
Dr. Jacowitz has a strong interest in wound care, foot surgery, Pediatrics foot disorders, and remains actively involved in teaching family practice resident.
